Got a brand new 2012 ruckus, gets up to about 37 mph but it takes a little while, gets up to 25 real quick though I would love to get it up to 45 if I could, that would be great I weigh 150 lbs, everything is stock as of now, all i really drive is flat terrain so climbing hills aren't really an issue I've been reading around and I was thinking of changing the variator and add a CDI I dont want to put any strain on the bike or add too many aftermarket parts that might make it have alot of problems, just want it faster and running clean Anyone have suggestions on what i should get?

37 mph from a 150 lb guy? Make sure your oil isn't overfilled and that your tires have the correct air pressure. Oh, and

yeah cool deal, but any suggestions on performance parts that I should buy to get better top speed and acceleration I was thinking the polini variator and the posh CDI What u think?

Well, start with what I said, because I'm pretty sure you should be doing at least 42 already.
I'm no expert, but the easiest things are a windshield to reduce drag, tires with less rolling resistance and a variator to start. I run a Polini with Metro weights, but I'm on an 04 and have about 30 lbs on you.
And read, read, read. And ride! ;D

Oil and tire pressure seem to be properly filled

To easyinthesand: I too bought a New Ruckus this year. I have a '12 model I bought back in May. I weigh about 195 with everything I wear while riding. I could consistantly cruise at 40 on flat ground. Wind direction matters quite a bit as well. Definately check the oil and tire pressure. The only mod I've done so far is a Ninja Scooter variator with 6.5g weights. My flat cruising speed has stayed about the same, but seems more finicky. The rpm is noticably lower at top speed though. I also bumped tire pressure to 30 and with those two things I notice more bottom end acceleration, and DRASTICALLY higher max speed. I can bury the speedo to the bottom of the thermometer symbol on long downhills.
I checked out this thread hoping to find more info about modding these fuel-injected models. If anyone is out there and can help, post it up. I've been eyeing the NOS kits on Ebay. I've been pondering how to get more fuel into the engine in conjuction with one of these kits. Any ideas for a wet NOS setup on a fuel-injected ruckus? I guess $$$ is the main issue. I've actually thought about a second fuel tank and pump just for use with the nitrous, but haven't gotten farther than thinking about it.
Hows that for a first post??? LOL

Also a first poster...but I have been lurking around these threads for a while Anyway, my girl and I both have 2011 Ruck's that we picked up in February. Both ran about the same speed stock, about 40-42. Been changing the oil at about 400 mile intervals after first changing at 100 or so. Upgraded the rear shocks on both to the new version of the Daytona Rear Shock with only a small amount of grinding involved. We are in San Diego so often have hills to contend with. After much research into variators and reading thru the Battlescooter website, I went with the Daytona Drag Variator for my ruck, while my girls ruck is still running stock. This is the first and only performance mod I have done (besides the shock) and I am running 45-46 mph on longer flats and easily that downhill. I also have more pull off the line than my girlfriend now and she is lighter than me (I'm 190 lbs). Not a huge difference on the hilly terrain out here, but a few MPH depending on the hill. While I am relatively new to this, I can say there is a wealth of info on this site and the other Ruckus forum. I found Battlescoter to be highly informative concerning variator tech and theory, so I personally recommend giving that page a look thru.

Just thought I would provide an update related to my previous post concerning the Daytona Drag variator. Initially I was hitting 45-46 mph top end but have now settled into about 43 on flats and stil about 45 downhill. My guess is this is related to my belt (1100 mi stock) adapting to the new variator, in where when the variator was first installed the belt was sitting higher on the variator during top end. Anyway now I'm at near 1600mi and getting an even better and smoother jump off the line and still a more consistent 40 ish top end. Being here in SD makes it tough to judge the overall impact of the variator install mainly because there aren't a lot of consistently straight and flat roads. I will still say the variator is worth it for most situations, but many times my girl running her stock variator keeps right with me (yes there is an obvious weight difference)

easyinthesand......try letting out a little oil, or drain it and refill it to about 1/2 way between the marks above and below the "waffle area" on the dipstick.....too much oil is a real speed killer on a Ruckus...the Crank/Rod will drag in the excess oil.... ;D

For now, don't mess with the electronics. Try the Metro 3 Transmission Gears and variator of your choice. You should get about +5mph from the gearing alone. The only hill here in Florida is an overpass.

You should get a tto tach gauge. Then figure out if your weights are tuned right. If you don't break 8000rpm flat you need to try another weight. Or change the belt to something wider like the powerlink if your motor is surging at the top.

I just bought a 2014 ruckus and i noticed that their was to much oil and my ruck would always stall out when i stoped. so i drained a little oil and put a little fuel injection cleaner in the gas and now it runs like a champ.
