I read in the newspaper a day or so ago that the CBR125 is coming to Canada (and probably the USA). Honda is doing some 'new rider program' and wants to get new people onto a smaller bike for ease of riding and insurance costs reasons. The newspaper didn't have a lot of spec's on the bike but it's a single cylinder, liquid cooled, fuel injected engine making about 12hp and it tops around around 125km/hr (75mph?) Judging from the pics, this bike is a bit bigger than I'd prefer...it looks like a 7/8 model of the regular CBR600 which is kinda big for my tastes but probably more comfortable to ride. The crazy thing about all this is the price. As part of the new rider program you get a complimentary full set of leathers and the CBR125 still only retails for $3000 Cdn (probably $2400 US) which is only $200 more than the Ruckus....it's a sick deal. I'm just excited that Honda is bringing a 125 to the market and that small sport bikes are coming back here. I don't think we've had a 125 sport bike since Yamaha and Kawasaki stopped bringing them over in the early 90's. I'm not sure if this CBR125 is the same one they've been selling in the UK and probably Japan or if it's new model but it might look like this one: www.bikez.com/motorcycles/honda_cbr_125_r_2006.php

That would really be a great addition (they need some) to Honda's line up here..........................

Here's an good article on it: www.cmgonline.com/bikes/articles/07_CBR125R/index.htmlThis bike weights 262lbs and makes 13.5hp. So in comparison to a Ruckus with a 200lbs rider making an optimistic 5hp....we've got about 390lb hauled by 5hp and the CBR has 460lbs hauled around by 13.5lbs...that's 34lbs per horsepower compared to our 78lbs/hp...all for a couple hundred more bucks. I wish Honda would take their scooters seriously.

Yeah, that looks more appealing than a Kaw Eliminator 125. I wish honda would bring back the XR250L here.

hehe, I've seen the first one you posted and it's not too nice of a bike imo...fast indeed because it was on the 120km/h highway, but it looks awfully skinny with its bicycle width tires and narrow bodywork
I'd still ride it though lol

I think they made it bigger to be comforable for large adult riders but a 3/4 size version of that would be way cooler...it's an awesome bike and I want one but I'm still not in a dilemma because I still like the Ruckus better.

that needs to have a 250 engine in it. it looks okay, but too skinny. it seems like you get a sportbike for acceleration and when you're only hauling 125 it is going to sound funny revving it up and not going much faster than you are. IMO of course.

It depends on how well the thing takes corners. If it's fun to throw around some twisties, not stock Ruckus slow, and still returning good gas mileage, I think it'd be alright.

Supposedly the milage is almost as good as the Ruckus...well it's rated at 38km/litre (95mpg-ish) which is what the Ruckus gets but I guess the Ruckus is rate at 80km/litre but no one gets close to that because you'd have to cruise at 30km/hr (20mph).

Yeah, the only time I can cruise that slow is if it's below zero to cut down on wind chill... and even then, I get tired of it, and just crank it up to frostbite.

Don't go with the 600....the 125 is way cheaper + cheaper insurance + cheaper to maintain and it's still gonna have lots of power.

There can't be that much of a need for stupid amounts of speed if you drive a Ruckus A CBR125 has the perfect amount of power IMO because you can cruise at 90-110km/hr easily and if you need to pass someone you should still be fine. I guess a top speed around 140 or 150km/hr would be ideal but it's not worth the hit in milage, insurance, size, weight etc. Aprilia makes the RS125 which is the sexiest 125 sportbike ever but it's a 2-stroke so you can't get one in North America. It goes 100mph/160km/hr:

It's not like you need anything bigger than a Ninja 250, really. Do they have them in Canadia?
