Yes there is a big bore kit available. Unlike a lot of engines you can't unbolt the cylinder sleeve and drop in a bigger one and a bigger piston and be way up to 70cc or so but Chanito did work with Wiseco pistons on some pistons that are higher compression and bigger bore. You don't replace the cyclinder sleeve but rather you bore (ie. drill) it out so it can swallow the bigger piston. These piston are 58.1cc (from 49.4cc) and are higher compression at 12.5:1.
Check out the 'Help! Aftermarket Pistons!" thread in the 'Performance Ideas' section of this site.

One thing to remember, HONDA Scooter Engines are always powerful when left stock. There is NO Big Bore Cylinder available for this engine from any manufacturers, because HONDA designed it in a totally different style (one piece motor). We DON'T suggest people change the camshaft or valves as the angles, & sizes of them should match perfectly with the internal diameter of the cylinder on 4-Stroke Engine. Feel free to ask any experienced machinist about this. found at wayne.visualloft.com/scooter/m_af58_carter.phpThis was written by Jiang Wayne but it was written over a year ago (June 2005) when there were no big bore pistons available. I'm not sure why he's against the cam because people have been using it for years without problems but I can understand his concerns about the valves although it's more of issue of getting the job done right (which is expensive) which is probably why they don't 'suggest' it...because they don't want to be on the hook if some cheap mechanic does a crappy job.

I'd rather work hard to make a cool but slow scooter fast then start off with an ugly fast scooter and try and make it look cool.

Congratulations on knowing everything Oh okay...I'm sure whether to take that as sarcasm or a compliment but I'll choose the latter.

Welcome to the internet, where people exchange ideas and information. A wise man is one that listens to the advice of others, while a fool turns a deaf ear. You've got a choice to listen or not. But I won't tolerate things I read that seem written in ill will.

You think I like explaining the same basic things over and over??
I find it a little tedious to explain things in a thorough fashion but there are a lot of new members on here who don't know that much about scooters and don't understand the basics like you might so I expain it for them. Everyone is new to scooters at some point in their life and your approach of:
,,,seems a little more arrogant and ego boosting than my approach which is to answer someone's question regardless of how basic it might be.

We need to tame some of our guests The option of a bigger scooter is not apealing to me as having a 50cc scooter allows me some slack from the insurance and license stuff, plus this scooter is way too much fun

And me, when I want to go faster, I'll buy something bigger.
Doesn't mean I don't still love the Ruckus... I plan to keep both. The Ruckus for around town, and the bigger scooter or motorcycle for longer rides.

Hey, Teds gripes at me for letting profanity by my modwaywardship (yeah, I can make up words, so what!).
I'm just tryin' to keep a nice clean board here, and tryin' to keep the flaming to a minimum...
And if those who do not know don't speak, well, you keep talkin' oneser...
What this thread needs is some arm wrestling!

Hey, Teds gripes at me for letting profanity by my modwaywardship I don't want to get into a big discussion over the censorship rules on this site but my person opinion favours censoring just the foul language and leaving the intent of the message largely intact. The actual intent of his message (I think DD's posts are too long which means that he's trying to show off and boost his ego) is perhaps rude but it isn't particularly foul.

Yeah, but the rules of the board also state against flaming.
I mean, bein' a mod makes me a hypocrite for the years of spamming I did, but whatever.

OK, my two cents. I was not going to say anything, but there is something that i think is important to get clear, the reason we all hang around here is because we share a love for a nice and unique scooter, we all have our differences and i understand sometimes they can create friction, but we also want to share information and having our questions answer, i have learned a lot on the time i have been a member of this board, if you have some information which you think is contradicting with some info on this place then by all means you should state so and we can talk until we get to a conclusion, like the post stating that there is not a big bore piston, which was true when it was posted, but is not longer true, but attacking someone who is trying to share his knowledge is completely out of place, flaming does not do any good and creates conflict that should be avoid. Having a knowledge and keeping it to yourself, is in my opinion selfish and stupid as it does not do any good to nobody but you, so the statements that "those who know, do not speak" and "i hate experts" belong to someone who lives without learning and that is sad, or to someone who does not want to learn and that is even worst
