You want use oil that's 0w40, 10w40 or if your climate is really hot you can go with a 5w50 or 15w50 oil. Don't go with a thinner 5w30 or 10w30 oil. To change the oil do this:
1 - Fire up your scoot and let it idle for a couple minutes to heat up the oil (if you just went for a ride skip this) 2 - Let it sit for 2 min so the oil settles 3 - Remove the drain bolt. It's on the left side of the scooter on the engine beneath the kickstarter. It takes a 17mm wrench/socket 4 - Catch the oil with something and dispose of it properly. About 0.6 litres comes out. 5 - Screw the drain bolt back in. Snug but don't reef it on too tight. 6 - Fill the engine back up with about 0.6L of fresh stuff via the dipstick. You'll need a funnel. Don't overfil the oil but do get it most of the way up the hash marks.
The Ruckus doesn't have an oil filter. It does have a clean-able screen that you can clean every few oil changes on the front of the engine but you don't need to do that know. You can use oil that's for cars or 4-stroke motorcycles.

one more question. is it .6 when the scoot is on its kick stand? is that when you check the level of the oil or when both wheels are on the ground?

just fill it up to the top notch on the dipstick, and after you take it for a run it should go somewhere back to the middle, which is the optimal amount

For a regular oil change, you'll need to put in .6 litres. If you were to clean the screen, you'd need .7. I think that's right.

for added fun, after 99% of the oil has drained out into my oil pan (a one gallon milk container that's been cut in half horizontally), I tilt the ruckus a bit towards the side where the oil drains out to get some of the last dirty oil out.
i'll get another ounce using this method.

Yeah tilt your Ruckus left and you'll get some more and you'll get even more if you lift the front end up.

Isn't it a good idea to change it at like 60 miles because of break-in?

You don't need to change it that soon. I would do it at about 400 to 600 miles (600 to 1,000 KM)

Some people would say to change the oil sometime around the first fill-up. I didn't, but the worst it would do is set you back a little cash. It might help, it might not, but if it's your peice of mind, go for it.

Doing early oil changes is a good idea as it removes debrii left over from initial machining, but i will wait until the first tank is gone (around 100 miles) before doing it, and i will change the oil at 600 miles after that

the filter gauze should catch the stuff from production in theory?
but over here its common pratice for some race engine builders to fill the new race engines with old tired oil to aid the engine running in quicker.
