I have not done the vavle adjustment as planned on schedule. The first time is when it wouldn't start, found no clearence on intake, ground the shim to achieve .004". Then just tonight it happened again, no clearence, so I took alittle more off the shim until I had the correct clearence. Am I looking at a burnt intake valve and need to do a valve job? The exhaust has NOT tightened up much at all, which seems backwards to me. Any one else have a problem like this? Currently at 4600 miles. Thanks in advance for any help. The valves generally seem a bit funky the first couple times you adjust them but then they work good for a while. I'd just roll with how you've got it now but if it happens once or twice more then I'd consider the other stuff you've suggested. Does it feel like it's running fine?

According to my son, it runs great after the valve is adjusted. Then as it tightens it gets to a point when it will not start. It has been about 2 months between incidents. My advice to others would be to check the valves at 500 miles and again at maybe 3000.

Normally i would say that that is normal, but since it only happens to the intake which is up, maybe some there is a lubrication problem, this might be one of the FEW cases where using synthetic might be a good idea

I have always used synthetic oil since the first change. Also it happened again.

That is unusual. Make sure you check the clearance with a dead cold engine, and put plenty of lube on the shim. Which weight and brand of oil do you use? maybe is too thick or thin

I have the same problem on my 2005 GET engine. My Ruckus staled and we open up the head to see that the intake valve seat was thin and sharp like a knife... we changed it , but the guy who is helping me dint want to pay for the seat being refaced... so it dosent start much and his backfirering into the carb now... I,ll get the head machined tomorow... hope this was my problem. All valves have been adjusted...
